Cobra Sport were keen to develop a system for the 208 GTi which would match the fun and sporty feel of the car. The decision was made to manufacture the systems with 2.5" (62.5mm) mandrel bent T304 stainless steel pipework to allow for maximum gas flow and to deepen the exhaust tone. The completed exhaust systems create a much improved sound track on the 208 GTi. During the 4,000 rpm static test the sound level of the resonated cat back system increased by 3.5db to register 78.4db on the sound meter.The non resonated system takes this a step further recording a more pronounced 82.5db an increase of 8db over the standard system. Our development car was fully tested on the rolling road with the Cobra Sport cat back exhaust upgrade fitted. This testing revealed a 3.35% increase in horse power recording and impressive 154.3bhp.The testing also revealed excellent gains in torque with a 11.4% increase with the total figure jumping up to just over 200 lb-ft. Mass also reduced providing a weight saving of just over 0.5kg in comparison to its OE counterpart even with the largely increased pipework bore size. All in all these are certainly impressive results for this little car. Styling options consist of standout 3" twin unobtrusive slash cut tailpipes which compliment the GTI's aesthetics nicely. All the exhaust variants are designed to remove the restrictive O/E first silencer which produces a more powerful sound track and overall, providing a purposeful but unobtrusive sound quality which in no way interferes with day-to-day drivability.Unrivalled quality is the hallmark of every Cobra Sport exhaust.
